How can I Manage Users and User Registration?

The user features built into Site on Demand give Users, Webmasters and Administrators various levels of control over content.  You can allow users to submit new content to your site for your review, and have an editor review and publish that content to your site.  This is the power of Site on Demand - You don't need to rely on your Webmaster to publish new content for you, your users and editors can do it through the Site on Demand interface.

You can either allow users to sign up on their own from your site, or you can create users manually from the Site menu by selecting User Manager. From there you can Edit existing users, or add New users manually.  When adding a new user, you can specify which user group they will belong to.  For example:

  • A Registered user will be able to view content that you define as non-public content.
  • An Author will be able to write new content, as well as view content that a Registered user can see.
  • An Editor will be able to edit content written by Authors, as well as do anything else an Author can do.
  • Publisher will be able to publish content, as well as do anything else an Editor can do.
  • Managers, Administrators, and Super Administrators also get access to the Administration Back End with different levels of security.

If you wish to disable new user registration from your public site, from the Site menu select Global Configuration and then the Site tab. Beside Allow User Registration select No. This will prevent new users from registering in the front of your site.  You'll need to manually register them from the Administration back-end.

If you want to disable the login form as well, from the Modules menu select Site Modules. In the module list you'll see Login Form. Simply unpublish this module, and the login form will no longer be displayed, thus preventing user login from the front of your site.
